Nerthus was built by Cemre Shipyard south of Istanbul, Turkey. The ferry is part of ALSLINJEN between Fynshav and Bøjden but helps out on SAMSØLINJEN until its sister ship Tyrfing arrives on Samsø and becomes the permanent ferry on SAMSØLINJEN between Kalundborg and Ballen.
Nerthus was named 'Shortsea ferry of the Year' at the Ferry Shipping Summit 2025. The award recognises the role of the ship in setting a new standard for shortsea operations: fully electric propulsion, fast and stable charging infrastructure and a significantly improved passenger experience.
